Vintage Global Rugs

Bhadohi, India

Vintage Global Rugs makes handmade floor coverings at Takia Kallan Shah on the Main Road in Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh. The business began in the early 1980s with a small team and a handful of looms, and became an Export House in 1985. The range covers hand knotted, hand tufted, hand loom and flatweave rugs, Oushak and Indo Tibetan designs, natural fibre and leather rugs, and woven and satin cushions and pouffes. Wool yarn is dyed and dried in the sun before weaving, and hand tufted pieces are latex backed and dried before finishing. Rugs are made to order in chosen colours, materials and dimensions, and past work includes hospitality, private villa and auditorium projects. The firm is an active member of the Carpet Export Promotion Council under membership number 8470.
