The Rug Republic is the retail brand of Sharda Exports of Meerut, a handmade floor covering and home decor manufacturer founded in 1983, which launched the brand in 2013 to sell direct rather than only in bulk. The range covers hand knotted, hand tufted and hand woven rugs in wool, cotton, jute, hemp, viscose, silk and leather alongside recycled denim, recycled cotton, recycled leather and PET, and it extends into poufs, ottomans, benches, cushions, wall decor, stools, bath rugs, mirrors and artisanal lighting. More than 700 designs are held in stock, with an ex factory lead time of three weeks worldwide. Goods are supplied, manufactured and packed by Sharda Exports at Rithani Industrial Area on Delhi Road in Meerut, and production spans about two million square feet of factory area across several Indian locations serving buyers in more than 80 countries. Sharda's factories hold ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, along with GRS, GOTS, BCI, BSCI, Sedex, Oeko Tex and the AVE social standard. Its New Delhi showroom is at 225 Okhla Industrial Area Phase 3.
