Carpets knotted by hand on the loom, the pile tied around a cotton warp and sheared level after washing. No backing or adhesive is used, so the structure is the weave itself.
Flat weaves made on a handloom, worked without a pile so both faces are usable. Durries are the flatwoven counterpart to the district's knotted carpets and are made on the same village looms.
