SBZ Rugs weaves handmade floor coverings at Hamidullah Building on Peerkhanpur Road in Bhadohi. Ashfaq Ansari founded the firm in 2016, continuing a family carpet trade that ran as Hamidullah and Sons from 1963. The workshop uses natural hand spun yarns in New Zealand and Argentinian wool, mohair, Bangladeshi cotton, tan silk, viscose and jute, and colours most of its carpets with organic dye. Production runs on site through warping, dyeing and drying, designing, colour matching, weaving, washing, finishing and inspection. Pattern, colour, size, quality and material are all made to order.
