Hand-knotted pile worked on a loom warped to the width of the piece, each knot tied and cut by the weaver before the row is beaten down. The finished carpet is washed and stretched before the pile is clipped.
Pileless floor weaves from the handloom, made in cotton and wool and reversible by construction. Flatweaves of this kind sit low under furniture and take hard wear in passages and doorways.
Tufted pile shot through a stretched backing with a hand gun, then latexed and backed with cloth. Tufting turns a design around quickly, so it carries sampling and repeat orders.
