Bhadohi, India
Onyx Rugs is a carpet exporter on G.T. Road in Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh. US ocean import records carry a single shipment under the name, a roll of Indian hand knotted viscose carpets consigned to Arizone Rug Company in August 2023. The record runs through that date and shows no later movement.
Hand-knotted viscose carpets
Knotted pile in viscose rather than wool, a regenerated fibre with a high sheen and a cool handle. The line named on the firm's US shipment record.
Wool pile tied by hand on the loom, one of the four constructions the firm registered for the 2026 fair.
Pile gunned through a stretched backing cloth and set with latex before the second backing goes on.
Flatweaves from the handloom, made without a knotted pile so the fabric lies low and reads from both sides.
