Indian Looms is a manufacturer of handmade rugs at Peerkhanpur Road in Bhadohi, the centre of the Indian hand knotted carpet trade, and dates its start to 2007. It weaves hand knotted, hand tufted and handloom rugs along with kilims, in traditional and contemporary designs. The catalogue is arranged as four collections, Ikat, Moroccan, Over Dyed and Suzani, each shown by design number. The company takes custom orders for hotel and corporate projects worked up with interior designers and architects.
Rugs in the ikat idiom, with the blurred edged patterning that comes from resist dyeing the yarn before it goes on the loom. The collection is shown as five designs in the IL 300 series.
Rugs worked in the Moroccan idiom, with open fields and the lattice and diamond figures of Berber weaving. The collection runs to eight designs in the IL 100 series.
Rugs carrying suzani figures, the large flowering medallions and vines of Central Asian embroidery, translated onto the loom. It is the smallest of the four collections, shown as five designs.
Rugs finished by over dyeing, where a woven piece is taken through a single strong colour so the pattern reads as a tonal ghost. The collection runs to nine designs in the IL 600 series.
Hand knotted rugs tied knot by knot on the warp, the construction Bhadohi is known for. It is one of the four constructions the company names as the base of its collections.
Flat woven kilims made without pile, listed by the company beside its hand knotted, hand tufted and handloom lines. They are woven at the Peerkhanpur Road works in Bhadohi.
