Mirzapur, India
HummingHaus is a rug maker based in Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh that sells its own production direct to buyers in India and abroad. The company gives 1957 as its founding year and works in hand tufting, hand weaving and hand knotting, with branch units in surrounding villages. Its yarns are wool, silk, bamboo silk, hemp, jute, cotton and linen, bought in a natural state and finished in house. Alongside rectangular rugs the catalogue covers shaped and round rugs, dhurries, doormats and cushion covers, and the company takes custom orders drawn to a customer design and budget. Every piece is checked in the showroom before packing.
