Handloom rugs, durries, hand-tufted carpets
Flatwoven floor coverings made on a handloom with no knotted pile, so the pattern reads on both faces. Durries in this construction are woven in cotton or wool and closed at the ends with a bound or fringed finish.
Pile made by punching yarn through a stretched backing cloth with a hand-held tufting gun, then set with a latex coat and a second backing. The surface is sheared level and can be carved to lift a pattern into relief.
